Labor Relations Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Labor Relations Manager based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to lead labor relations activities within a large, complex healthcare environment.
You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to HR colleagues, leaders, managers, employees, and external labor partners on labor relations matters.
A central focus will be managing collective bargaining negotiations and building constructive relationships with represented bargaining units.
You’ll also oversee labor contract administration, interpretation, grievance processes, and related employee relations matters.
The position requires strong knowledge of employment legislation and the ability to navigate sensitive, high-impact workplace situations.
As an independent indirect leader, you’ll influence stakeholders across the organization through consultation, facilitation, negotiation, and sound judgment.
This is a full-time, remote U.S. opportunity with a daytime schedule and a broad scope of organizational impact.

Accountabilities

• Advise HR colleagues, leaders, managers, and other stakeholders on labor and employee relations matters , including prevention strategies and appropriate courses of action.

• Serve as the organization’s chief negotiator in collective bargaining negotiations with represented employee groups.

• Develop and maintain productive working relationships with organizational leadership, external labor partners, and bargaining units.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to negotiate agreements and support constructive, effective labor relations.

• Administer collective bargaining agreements and provide clear interpretation of contract provisions to managers, employees, and HR colleagues.

• Lead or support grievance processing, contract implementation, and resolution of labor-related issues.

• Provide guidance regarding performance management and other employee relations matters within unionized environments.

• Facilitate communication between management and union organizations to promote effective working relationships.

• Apply relevant employment laws, regulations, policies, and labor standards when advising on workplace matters.

• Support employment-related investigations and ensure grievances and other labor matters are handled appropriately.

• Provide consulting, facilitation, and leadership support across different organizational levels.

• Build positive and influential relationships with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a related discipline .

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in labor and employee relations .

• At least 2 years of collective bargaining experience ; experience serving as a chief spokesperson is strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated experience leading contract interpretation and implementation , grievance processing, performance management, and labor relations initiatives.

• Experience establishing and maintaining effective communication and working relationships with union organizations and management .

• Working knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulatory standards, including FLSA, FMLA, NLRA, EEOC, Workers’ Compensation, ADA, HIPAA, and COBRA .

• Familiarity with The Joint Commission (TJC) principles and practices is preferred.

• Experience conducting or supporting employment-related investigations and grievance administration .

• Strong internal and external consulting, facilitation, negotiation, and leadership skills.

• Ability to build trust and influence stakeholders across different organizational levels and perspectives.

• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities, with the judgment to navigate sensitive workplace situations.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with HR, leadership, employees, and external labor partners.

• A Juris Doctorate or Master’s degree is preferred.

• Professional HR certification such as PHR or SPHR is preferred.
