What We're Building Riviera is the command center for family wealth. Riviera gives families operational control over their entire financial world: every entity, account, and investment connected, with the terms, people, and context inside each one. Where the industry has historically reported on wealth, Riviera enables families to command it. The family offices and advisory firms managing the world's most successful families' wealth are analog businesses. Trillions of dollars are running on spreadsheets, filing cabinets, and disconnected point solutions. Institutional inertia and technological backwardation are dressed up as bespoke, white-glove service, applied to financial lives as complex as those of multi-billion dollar companies. The industry's answer has been more of the same: more people, more spreadsheets, more manual reconciliation, and more legacy software producing work out of date the moment it is created. Clients tolerate this because there is no alternative. Riviera is what comes next: an AI-native system of action that puts families in command. How We Build We are building Riviera the modern way. No large engineering teams flanked by separate product, design, and QA functions. We hire entrepreneurial operators who own products end-to-end: spend time with users, design, then build and ship. Design works closely with engineering and product, but every member of the team is expected to operate full-stack. We build for principals first. Our users are highly sophisticated, mostly non-technical, and in some cases not software-savvy at all. The product has to be simple enough for them to get their arms around their wealth on their own. Underneath, it has to capture the full complexity of how their financial lives actually work. That's the design problem. The Role As Riviera's Founding Designer, you own the experience of the product. The product is live, the clients are real, and the design problem is significant. What You'll Do: Build for principals first. Make the platform simple enough for non-technical users to operate confidently, with the depth they need available when they look for it. This is the central design challenge. Live with our users. Direct, daily contact with families, advisors, and operating teams. Not research-by-proxy. The quality of the product follows the quality of what you observe. Ship the work. You design and you build. You write production code into the application alongside engineering and own a meaningful portion of the front end. Build the design system. Establish the components and patterns that scale across the platform and the team to come. Treat the system as a product. Set the bar. Every decision you make defines what good looks like for everyone who joins after you. Who You Are You have shipped product design that real users depend on. Not marketing pages or portfolio work, but information-dense daily-use software. You've owned design end-to-end as a senior or sole designer before. You are AI-native in a way you can demonstrate. How you research, design, prototype, and ship today looks materially different from two years ago. You run user research as an ongoing practice, not a sprint. Daily contact with users is how you work, not a special event. You have strong opinions about software, the humility to test them against what users actually do, and the judgment to know when to hold the line and when to ship. Experience designing for fintech, wealth management, or other data-rich regulated categories is a plus. What We Offer Founding Designer status.
