Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Correctional)

Contract | Nights (4x12 Hours, 18:00–06:30) | 36–48 Hours per Week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide routine and emergency healthcare to patients within a correctional/detention facility setting
• Conduct health assessments and triage incoming patients, including detoxification rounds per established protocol
• Make appropriate referrals to providers, dental, mental health, and other healthcare professionals
• Perform phlebotomy, IV starts, oral suctioning, and airway management including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Administer and monitor oxygen delivery methods including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks
• Maintain isolation precautions and adhere to all facility infection control protocols

Required Qualifications

• Active or pending RN licensure (non-local applicants only; must reside outside a 100-mile radius of facility)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• MOAB certification required; facility will provide a 4-hour de-escalation course during orientation week for those without current certification — failure to pass may result in contract cancellation
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic health records
• RQI certifications are not accepted in lieu of required certifications

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior correctional or detention facility nursing experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience is a plus, though first-time travelers with relevant clinical background will be considered
• Familiarity with detoxification protocols and behavioral health patient populations
