This is how we prepare city kids and families to thrive at the next level.With 12 campuses across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, and over 20 years of serving the NYC community, families get the depth and support of an established network, delivered with the warmth of a neighborhood school tuned to the block it serves.We are building an Education organization grounded in purpose, people, presence, and passion, and we are looking for a leader who believes deeply in that approach.About the RoleThe Recruiter & Onboarding Specialist will support full-cycle recruiting and own the coordination of onboarding and new hire training across NY Preschool.This role is responsible for ensuring a smooth, efficient hiring process and delivering a consistent, high-quality onboarding experience that sets new hires up for success from day one.This is a highly execution-focused role that partners closely with hiring managers, Heads of School, and the Director of HR to support hiring needs and ensure new employees have a strong start.This role is based in New York City and requires regular in-person presence to support interviews, onboarding, and training across our schools.How This Role Fits Into the OrganizationServes as the key connector between leadership, school teams, and new employees, ensuring NY Preschool's hiring and onboarding processes align with the organization's standards for quality and consistency across all locations.Partners closely with the Director of HR and Heads of School to execute full-cycle recruiting and onboarding operations, supporting NY Preschool's growth strategy and maintaining an exceptional employee experience.Acts as a front-line representative of NY Preschool's culture and values by delivering a smooth, engaging onboarding journey that strengthens team cohesion and promotes long-term staff retention.What You'll DoRecruiting Support & CoordinationManage job postings, candidate screening, and interview schedulingSupport sourcing efforts across key roles (teachers, school staff, enrichment roles)Ensure a responsive, professional candidate experience throughout the hiring processCoordinate communication between candidates and hiring managersPipeline & Hiring OperationsMaintain organized candidate pipelines and tracking systemsEnsure all candidates are properly documented and progressed through stagesTrack recruiting activity and support reporting on hiring progressKeep hiring processes moving efficiently across multiple rolesAttend Open House Recruiting Events and partner with colleges and universitiesOnboarding CoordinationCoordinate onboarding from offer acceptance through first dayEnsure all new hires receive clear communication and a structured onboarding planPrepare onboarding materials, schedules, and documentationSupport a welcoming and organized first-day experienceNew Hire Training CoordinationCoordinate logistics for new hire training, including:orientation sessionsrequired compliance trainingsrole-specific onboarding sessionsTrack completion of required trainings and follow up as neededEnsure all onboarding steps are completed within expected timelinesIn-Person Support Across SchoolsBe present across NY Preschool locations to support:in-person interviewsonboarding sessions and orientationsnew hire training coordinationBuild strong relationships with school teams to ensure a seamless hiring and onboarding experienceCross-Functional SupportWork closely with:Heads of School to support hiring and onboarding at the site levelDirector of HR to ensure compliance and consistencyInternal teams to coordinate onboarding and training schedulesProcess Support & ImprovementHelp identify opportunities to improve recruiting and onboarding processesSupport implementation of more efficient workflows and toolsEnsure consistency and organization across all hiring and onboarding activitiesRequirementsWhat We're Looking For2–4 years of experience in recruiting, HR coordination, or talent operationsStrong organizational and administrative skillsExperience coordinating interviews, onboarding, or training logisticsExperience leading group training and orientationsExcellent communication and follow-up skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and timelines simultaneouslyComfortable working in a fast-paced, in-person environmentWillingness to travel between NYC locations regularly (4 days/week in person required)Experience in education, childcare, or service-based industries is a plusExperience with ATS systems, Paylocity a plusExperience recruiting for multi-site companiesWhat Success Looks LikeOpen roles are supported efficiently with strong candidate coordinationCandidates have a positive, organized experience throughout the hiring processNew hires have a smooth and welcoming onboarding experienceAll onboarding and training steps are completed on timeStrong in-person support for schools and new hires across locationsClear visibility into recruiting activity and onboarding progress
