The role expects significant software engineering knowledge in complex UI and server-side applications, including new feature work, improvements on existing code, and active participation in designing and shipping the product.To be successful at Oversight, you should be able to:Contribute to the design and development of new product featuresTranslate business requirements into software design documents. Ensure application meets functional, performance, and technical requirementsWork closely with development leads, and other developers to ensure proper implementationEffectively share technical information and train/mentor team membersEstablish a very high standard for quality and insure that this standard is consistently metWork in a fast-paced team environment to complete multiple projects simultaneously according to business and technical requirementsSkillsExperience in software product development, preferably at a software vendor1-2 years of hands-on full-stack development experience designing, building and supporting high-performing applications using Java and TypeScript, including Java server technologies, J2EE applications and Web ServicesStrong programming skills in Python, Java, and TypeScriptStrong debugging/diagnostic skills including identifying and resolving performance issuesExperience in modern web application developmentExperience using AI tools such as Cursor, Codex, or Claude Code to develop softwareProficiency developing software products that access relational databases and data platforms such as Postgres and DatabricksAbility to create and understand complex SQL statementsProficiency with Linux or other Unix command line interfaceExperience with cloud environments; AWS preferredExperience with unit testing and Continuous Integration (Maven, Junit, pytest)Ability to use version control software such as gitExperience with Scrum/Agile development methodologiesBS in Computer Science or related disciplineAdditional Desired Skills Include:Experience with data warehouses and decision support systemsExperience with SparkExperience with UI design and developmentKnowledge of Angular, Spring Boot, and HTML5Experience with Fintech SoftwareExperience working with Offshore Testing / Development teamsExperience with Jira and BitbucketIdeal Candidate Will Also Have The Following Personal Attributes:Well organized to be able handle multiple projectsCreative thinker, self-starter, able to work on multiple projects simultaneouslyExcellent communication skillsAbility to adapt to a changing environmentAbility to operate with a minimum of direct supervision
