Summer Rising Group Leaders (Brooklyn Location)

Hourly Range $18-21 (commensurate with experience) Work Schedule Monday-Thursday (11:30am-3:00pm); Friday (7:30am-5:00pm, every other week) Weekly Hours 23.50 hours per week Tentative Duration Monday, June 20, 2026 - Friday, August 7, 2026 (possibility to secure a position for the Fall) About the Role Group Leaders are dynamic youth workers committed to working with the program team to deliver high quality, academically aligned arts, performance arts, sports, and/or STEM instruction to elementary, middle, or high school youth from the framework of positive youth development and social emotional literacy. This is a wonderful opportunity if you love working with children, in afterschool programs, summer programs and special projects. Responsibilities Supervise and engage program participants with the goal of fostering positive youth development. Prepare materials and space for various age-appropriate activities. Assist with planning, development, and implementation of various activities & events. Support effective classroom management and contribute to a positive environment by being adaptable, modeling positive behavior, promoting teamwork, and fostering a welcoming & inclusive environment. Attend staff meetings, professional development opportunities, training sessions, & special events to enhance knowledge & skills, as required, inclusive of those outside program hours. What You’ll Bring We’re looking for a reliable and energetic group leader who can build strong relationships with students, manage a group effectively, and support daily program operations with consistency and care. Core Competencies & Strengths Safety & Supervision: Prioritizing safety, knowledge of procedures, active supervision, and emergency preparedness. Child & Youth Development: Building positive relationships, understanding child development & cultivating a nurturing & inclusive environment that foster a sense of belonging. Programming & Activity Facilitation: Assisting with the design & execution of activities, facilitating learning, creativity & adaptability, and encouraging youth participation. Communication & Collaboration: Effective communication, active listening, teamwork, and building relationships with various stakeholders, departments, youth, and staff. Professionalism & Development: Role modeling, accountability, openness to feedback, and commitment to growth. Required Qualifications High school diploma or its equivalent. Minimum 1 year of experience working with children and/or youth in a professional setting. Strong ability to form and maintain positive, professional relationships with children, youth, families, and other stakeholders. Able to set an example in all areas, including timeliness, attendance, and professionalism. Ability to relate to officials, staff and public in a courteous manner.
