Lateral Police Officer

Position Title Lateral Police Officer Job Overview We’re looking for well‑qualified police officers who want to work for Utah’s capital city. Qualifications At least one full year of experience working as a Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) in an agency whose primary responsibility is responding to calls for service in the community. A current Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certificate as an LEO, or successful completion of the Utah POST waiver exam for out‑of‑state candidates. Benefits & Resources Year‑for‑year credit toward starting pay and vacation accruals. All qualifying experience is credited toward pay rate. Full city benefits starting day one, including health, dental, vision, paid time off, and additional discounted supplemental benefits. See Specialty assignments across SWAT, bike patrol, intelligence, detective work, training, etc. All equipment provided: take‑home vehicles, uniforms, handcuffs, body‑cams, and more. Competitive pay incentives: merit increases, career path incentive pay for a bachelor’s degree, overtime opportunities. Salary Range Entry $36.69 | 2 Years $38.89 | 4 Years $41.23 | 6 Years $43.71 | 8 Years $46.32 | 10 Years $49.10 | 12 Years $52.05 Legal & Background Requirements Disqualifying conditions and legal requirements: and Offers contingent on successful completion of a criminal background check in accordance with city policy.
