About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13-week contract Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in high risk, high acuity environments preferred. License: Current compact license required. Certifications: Required: BLS, NRP Preferred: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate Must-Have: Candidates must have current supervisory references. Candidates must have proof of required certifications with submission. Candidates must pass clinical review. Candidates must circulate and provide neonatal care, including eye care and vitamin K injections, as well as newborn assessments. Description: This position involves working in a high-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit. The average daily census is approximately 15 patients, with 500-600 deliveries per month. The unit has 31 beds and operates with 4 operating rooms. Candidates will be required to function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and continue care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum. Responsibilities include assisting with high-risk deliveries and providing comprehensive postpartum care. Candidates should be comfortable floating to postpartum and antepartum areas as needed. Experience with electronic fetal monitoring is essential. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following skills: - Amnioinfusion - Anticoagulation therapy - APGAR scoring - Assistance with vaginal deliveries - C-section circulation - Newborn assessments Candidates should be familiar with managing high risk antepartum situations and be able to recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns. Ideal candidates will have experience supporting substance recovery and midwifery clients. The schedule is subject to change based on unit needs and requires working weekends and holidays as needed. Pre-approved time off will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
