Principal Software Engineer, AI SIEM

Role Description

As a Principal Software Engineer, AI SIEM, you will be tasked with reasoning across all three layers of SentinelOne's AI SIEM:

• How data moves and gets queried at scale
• How analysts actually work with what the system surfaces
• How detections get built and tuned

Your role involves looking at the system as a whole, identifying exceptional areas, gaps, and redundant efforts, and driving architectural decisions to close those gaps.

What Will You Do?

• Build a working mental model of the full system, including ingest and storage, query and retrieval, analyst-facing workflows, and detection engines.
• Drive cross-team architectural decisions affecting multiple parts of the system.
• Partner with engineering leads as a peer thought partner, influencing through technical credibility.
• Identify and prioritize high-leverage architectural investments and advocate for them to leadership.
• Get hands-on where necessary: prototype, review, and build connections between pillars.
• Establish and champion cross-cutting technical standards for APIs, data contracts, and service boundaries.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers across teams to raise the bar for architectural thinking.
• Represent the technical health of the system in planning and leadership conversations.

Qualifications

• Deep experience (15 or more years) building and operating large-scale distributed backend systems.
• Experience in at least two of the following: high-throughput data ingest/storage, query engines, or detection/rules systems.
• Demonstrated track record of reasoning about systems at the architecture level.
• Experience designing APIs and service contracts across teams and years.
• Comfort operating without a clear chain of command.
• A four-year degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with security operations concepts is preferred.
• Experience with modern cloud infrastructure and data-intensive systems is preferred.
• Exposure to both rule-based and ML/AI-driven detection approaches is a plus.
