Clinical Nurse, Outpatient - Pediatrics & Young Adults

Join MD Anderson's Pediatrics - Child & Adolescent Center as a Clinical Nurse, Outpatient and provide specialized care to pediatric and adolescent and young adult (AYA) patients receiving treatment for hematologic and oncologic conditions. The primary purpose of the Clinical Nurse is to provide care to pediatric and AYA (adolescent and young adults) hematology/oncology patients. This will include administering chemotherapy, blood products and immunotherapies.

SHIFT: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 6pm x 10 hrs. with a rotating day off during the week and some on-call for weekends and holidays.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree and two years of recent inpatient nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics or oncology.

The Clinical Nurse engages in problem solving in order to meet unit goals and achieve desired outcomes.
1.Provides feedback to the Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, and Clinical Nurse Leader through the evaluation of performance of clerical and clinical staff

a. Assists unit leadership in measuring and monitoring unit outcomes data

d. Participates in performance improvement projects as guided by leadership team

Qualifications - External

REQUIREMENTS

Education

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Preferred: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.

Experience

Preferred: Two years relevant clinical nursing experience preferably in Pediatrics or Oncology.

All clinical nurses with less than one year registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.

Licensure/Certification

Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Preferred: Certification in oncology or specialty practice area. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
