We are committed to serving the community and treating our patients as family.The 21-bed Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) at Akron General cares for adult patients suffering from acute myocardial infarctions, cardiogenic shock, respiratory arrest, life- threatening dysrhythmias, bradyarrhymias requiring emergent insertion temporary pacemakers, congestive heart failure, cardiopulmonary arrest, post-cardiac procedure, cardiogenic shock and severe coronary artery disease. Additionally, Akron General's CVICU also takes post-operative coronary artery bypass grafting, valve replacement and thoracic and vascular surgery patients. As an RN on the team, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. Working 48 hours per 6-week period will be required.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Provide direct nursing care.Implement and monitor patient care plans.Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.Monitor, record and communicate patients' conditions.Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red CrossAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross must be presented upon hire or within first year of employmentExternal applicants: two years of recent related nursing experienceInternal applicants: less than two years of experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period considered with the Chief Nursing Officer approval for internal applicantsWill consider licensed military RN experiencePreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)Physical Requirements:Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.The policy of Cleveland Clinic Health System and its system hospitals (Cleveland Clinic Health System) is to provide equal opportunity to all of our caregivers and applicants for employment in our drug free environment.
