Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.MATERIAL HANDLERThe Material Handler position is a support role for all operations at our launch site in Cape Canaveral, FL. The Material Handler is responsible for ensuring that our engineering and technician teams have all the necessary materials for mission-critical projects. This job involves actively working in the field with the planning team, technicians, and engineers to stage all materials required for projects.RESPONSIBILITIES:Interface with the engineering/technician teams to alleviate material bottlenecks in the fieldMaintain clean and organized delivery areasPick up and deliver materials to multiple worksites across Cape Canaveral and the surrounding areasStage/transport materials for work ordersOperate material handling equipment and maintain operator qualificationsConstruct delivery locations as needed, including but not limited to building shelves, putting up signs, reorganizing and/or relocating materials, and properly disposing of trash and scrap materialsExpedite parts to meet estimated completion datesUtilize the factory scheduler to manage, prioritize, and complete requests for inventory from work ordersManage outgoing materials and finished goods to ensure on-time delivery to their destinationsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalency certificateExperience operating a forklift and/or other material-handling motorized vehicles/equipment2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing, construction, or logistics environmentPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Previous experience reading and understanding a bill of materialsUse of precision measuring instrumentsStrong communication skills for relaying data between other employees and customersAbility to work effectively in a team environment as well as work alone with minimal supervisionAbility to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environmentExperience in aerospace, automotive, or manufacturing environmentMechanical experience or experience as a technician is preferredStrong computer and analytical skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets, shop floor management software, and inventory management softwareExperience working with manufacturing system requests for inventory (RFI), requests for parts (RFP), or work orders (WO)Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape CanaveralAbility to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting the upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings, and climbing hand over handAbility to work the following shift: Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 4:30pmAbility to work on ladders/lifts at elevated heights (up to 300 feet) with appropriate safety equipmentTypically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rainWork performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noiseMust maintain certification for pallet/all-terrain forkliftsValid driver's licensePhysical effort with some handling of lightweight supplies or materials (up to 50 lbs. unassisted)Must be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed based on site operational needs; flexibility requiredITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
