Substitute Cafeteria Worker

Job Title

To prepare and serve the students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness. To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the cafeteria for the ultimate health, comfort, and benefit of its patrons.

Essential Functions

• Prepares food according to a planned menu and uniform recipes, and determines if the finished product is of best quality both in flavor and appearance before it is served.
• Assists in the preparation and serving of food to patrons in a quick and pleasant manner and prepares cafeteria counters.
• Operates equipment as needed.
• Performs related duties as required including duties at special meal functions.
• Assists in the processing of food being delivered, inventory control, and cashiering.
• Reports to the cafeteria manager any faulty or inferior quality food which is received.
• Assists in the daily clean up of the kitchen and service areas.
• Supervises culinary arts student helpers in daily lunch preparation and daily closing and cleaning operations.
• Maintains the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.
• Reports immediately to the cafeteria manager any problem or accident occurring in the kitchen or the cafeteria premises.
• Confers with the cafeteria manager regarding any personnel problems.
• Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the Department of Education, the District and/or, with prior approval, in self-selected professional growth activities.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Other Functions

• Maintain a courteous and helpful attitude toward students, parents, public, and all members of the Diman community.
• Maintain positive working relationships with Diman teachers, administrators, staff, and to the community members.
• Work collaboratively with other staff maintaining the mission of the school and maintaining progress in reaching the School Improvement Plan and the District Strategic Plan goals.

Qualifications for the Position

Education/Formal Training: Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED.

Certification/License: 1. Food Handler's Certificate 2. Serve Safe Certificate

Knowledge and Skills: 1. Able to perform tasks requiring an ordinary degree of skill in the preparation and serving of food as well as other tasks required for the operation and sanitary maintenance of a food service facility or area. 2. Basic computer skills.
