NC Programmer I

Position Overview Hexcel, a global leader in advanced composites technology, is seeking a CNC Programmer at our Amesbury, MA location. Responsibilities Analyzing engineering drawings, specifications, and verbal instruction to plan a manufacturing strategy. Creating efficient toolpath machining strategies using MasterCAM for milling programs. Developing fixtures and work holding jigs for machining unique components. Creating detailed setup sheets and work instructions. Modifying current production programs and fixtures to improve efficiency. Setting up and running various CNC machinery (3‑axis, 5‑axis, EDM, waterjet) and machining prototype or low‑quantity run parts when required. Occasionally designing 2D wireframe / 3D solid models from a blueprint or sketch to create CNC programs. Selecting correct programs, loading and setting up tools and parts. Calculating new product costs by providing material cost and processing time for fixturing, as well as setup and run time to produce parts. Performing other duties including, but not limited to: completing reports and records, running daily calibrations, basic machine maintenance, training operators, and troubleshooting production issues. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. 2+ years of programming experience utilizing MasterCAM X or newer software. 2+ years of experience working in a machine shop—setting up and operating CNC and manual machines. Experience with troubleshooting CNC programs. Ability to read blueprints with an understanding of GD&T. Ability to decipher and edit NC code as required. Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team on the floor. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. This position is restricted to U.S. citizens due to U.S. federal government contracts that require the employment of only persons who are U.S. citizens.
