Software Engineer Cloud Engineering/DevOps

Location: Houston, TX- hybrid Pay $80- $90/hr

Our client is seeking a Software Engineer to join their dynamic team responsible for designing, developing, testing, and enhancing enterprise-level software solutions. This role will work closely with Architects, Business Analysts, users, and technical team members to analyze complex requirements, develop scalable solutions, and support new and existing applications. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on coding experience, technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with emerging technologies, including AI throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, codes, tests, debugs, implements, and maintains enterprise-level software applications.
• Develops new software solutions and significant enhancements to existing applications based on business and technical requirements.
• Leads design and coding sessions and works collaboratively with Architects and other technical team members to develop and implement solutions.
• Performs complex analysis of system requirements, existing business processes, and information systems to identify effective technology solutions.
• Translates business requirements into technical designs and scalable software solutions.
• Articulates technical designs and helps resolve technical and design conflicts throughout the development lifecycle.
• Collaborates with Business Analysts and business users to understand requirements and develop effective solutions.
• Reviews systems under development and related technical documentation to ensure quality and alignment with requirements.
• Conducts code reviews and promotes adherence to enterprise coding standards and development best practices.
• Troubleshoots and resolves application and customer issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Responds to user feedback and contributes to application enhancements, improvements, and new functionality.
• Participates in advanced systems planning, scheduling, implementation, and deployment activities.
• Performs thorough software testing and debugging to ensure functionality, reliability, and performance.
• Creates and maintains technical documentation related to software solutions, system changes, and development processes.
• Participates in software development lifecycle activities, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and support.
• Leverages AI tools and emerging technologies throughout the software development lifecycle to improve development efficiency and software solutions.
• Mentors and supports less experienced developers and contributes to the growth and development of team members.
• Communicates technical issues, risks, project status, and recommendations effectively to technical and business stakeholders.
• Works effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
• May participate in rotating on-call support as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience designing, developing, testing, debugging, and implementing software applications.
• Experience developing enterprise-level software solutions and enhancing existing applications.
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Experience analyzing complex system requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
• Strong coding skills with the ability to develop complex, scalable, and maintainable software.
• Experience performing code reviews and working within established enterprise coding standards.
• Experience with software testing, QA methodologies, debugging, and system analysis.
• Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively with Architects, Business Analysts, developers, business users, and other stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to mentor and train less experienced team members.
• Ability to learn and adapt to new and emerging technologies.
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to take on a variety of challenging technical assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leveraging AI tools within the software development lifecycle.
• Experience with web application development.
• Experience with imaging technology.
• Knowledge of project management and change management principles related to software acquisition and development lifecycles.
• Experience with system design, systems analysis, software implementation, and upgrades.
• Experience with Unified Modeling Language (UML) or similar modeling methodologies.
• Experience leading technical teams, driving consensus, and resolving complex technical problems.
• Experience mentoring and developing other software engineers.
• Familiarity with emerging software development technologies, tools, and methodologies.
