Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Competency in reading and interpreting EKG strips and managing Amiodarone and Diltiazem drips Description: Seeking experienced Registered Nurses for a MedSurg/Telemetry unit. This unit has a total of 38 beds, with 8 dedicated to telemetry. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5. Nurses will be required to float to the telemetry unit. Charge nurses typically do not take patients but may provide break relief. There are nurse aides available as staffing and census dictates. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Holidays will be rotated among staff. Scrub color is navy, with under shirts permitted in navy, white, or black. The unit deals with general MedSurg patients, including post-operative general and orthopedic patients. This is a fast-paced environment with a two-hallway layout. Live reporting will occur at the bedside. Self-scheduling is utilized, but will be finalized by management. Shifts start at 6:45 PM. Travelers can access schedules from home and manage their availability for extra shifts. The unit has a component of charge nursing responsibilities. Expect a high-demand unit with an emphasis on patient care and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Medical declination for COVID-19 vaccination requires a physician's note; religious declination does not require supporting documentation. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting is done through Cerner.
