We are looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the development of electrical interconnection processes for our cutting-edge battery products. In this role you will drive technological advancement in this discipline as part of a small, specialized team. Battery development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges with electric vehicles, battery cost, and performance. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects. What You'll Do Design electrical interconnection processes and equipment such as laser weldingProvide interconnect Design for Manufacturability (DFM) & Reliability (DFR) input to product designersValidate and optimize processes from early prototype builds through full volume productionDrive proof-of-concept to green light new and novel methods, technologies, and suppliersEvolve the electrical interconnection knowledge base through experimentation and benchmarking What You'll Bring 3+ years of engineering, or equivalent relevant experienceExperience developing and implementing electrical interconnect processes and equipment in high-volume production (laser welding, ultrasonic wire bonding, ultrasonic welding, soldering)Proficiency in geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) and experimental designCapability and willingness to travel domestically and internationallyDegree in Engineering, Physics, Materials, or equivalent experience Benefits
