Park Patrol Officer - Bylaw Enforcement

Business Unit: Housing Planning and Protective Services Division: Protective Services Position Type: Auxiliary; 4 positions available: 3 term positions from June 5th - September 7th, 2026, and 1 position as and when needed. Pay Grade: CAN/05/02/J09 Rate of Pay: $34.87 - $37.16 per hour plus 15% in lieu of vacation and benefits Hours of Work: Term positions scheduled Friday - Monday from June 5th – September 7th, 2026. As and when needed positions require Friday - Monday availability. This position is responsible for conducting Parks patrols and ensuring compliance with the Capital Regional District Parks Bylaw. Key Duties & Responsibilities Conducts Park patrols to educate patrons about and enforce the CRD Parks Bylaw, using enforcement action—including use of force and arrests—only when necessary and as outlined by CRD Policy. Contacts other agencies as required when encountering non‑compliant patrons. Reports all serious events that occur while on shift immediately to the Chief Bylaw Officer and/or Senior Bylaw Officer. Prepares, completes and submits shift‑by‑shift Parks patrol reports to the Chief Bylaw Officer and/or Senior Bylaw Officer. Follows all CRD policies, procedures, guidelines and standards, including but not limited to: CRD bylaw policies, procedures and guidelines; CRD communications and media, human resources, legislative and administrative services, financial services policies, procedures and guidelines. Creates books of evidence and prosecutes disputed municipal tickets issued. Performs other related duties as required. Strong MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SharePoint skills. Strong ability to perform a wide variety of activities in all weather conditions and terrain. Thorough knowledge of the CRD Parks Bylaw. Qualifications High School Graduation. Bylaw enforcement and/or auxiliary or reserve constable training. A minimum of 2 years of directly related experience. Certifications Acceptable criminal record check. Use of Force Certification. ASP Expandable Baton Use. OC Spray Use. Valid BC Driver's Licence.
