General Ledger AccountantLocation: Pittsburgh, PA, US, 15238 Business Unit: E&PIThe General Ledger Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company's financial records through accurate journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role plays a key part in the monthly close process, supports financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and ensures compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements. This position offers exposure to a broad range of accounting activities including fixed assets, balance sheet management, and audit support, as well as opportunities to participate in process improvements and ad hoc projects.Key Responsibilities:Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate and timely financial reportingPerform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations, investigating and resolving variancesSupport the monthly close process, including analysis of financial results and fluctuationsMaintain and analyze general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAPAssist in the preparation of financial statements and internal management reportsSupport FP&A activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysisAssist with internal and external audits by preparing supporting documentation and responding to audit requestsPerform quarterly SOX compliance activities, including control documentation, testing, and reportingManage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations (FAS transitioning to SAP)Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracyParticipate in ad hoc projects and support additional accounting responsibilities as neededQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldMinimum of 2–4 years of accounting experience (public accounting or industry)Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting principlesExperience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)Advanced Excel skills; proficiency in Microsoft OfficeStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesPreferred Skills:CPA or CPA candidate preferredExperience with month-end close processesFamiliarity with SOX compliance and internal controlsExposure to fixed asset accountingExperience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus
