About the job The Veterinary Assistant position will assist the hospital in delivering excellent care to all of our patients within the hospital. Perform Veterinary Assistant duties pursuant to VE+CC Protocols. Embodies the culture in treating every client with the utmost courteous and attentive treatment possible, with a keen sensitivity to the emotional bond between owners and their pets. Assist DVMs and LVT in all duties necessary. How you'll make a difference Monitor and appropriately document patient vital signs and activity Provide all technical support to primary emergency veterinarian Provide comfort, diagnostic, surgical and nursing care to all patients including critical care patients Perform basic, emergent, and critical care anesthetic monitoring Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing including but not limited to blood draws, arterial blood gas sampling, cystocentesis, urinary catheter sampling and free catch urine Perform various laboratory procedures including but not limited to blood typing, cross matching, and slide agglutination testing Accurately take and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiograph while following appropriate radiation safety protocols Properly use and maintain medical equipment Provide professional client communication What you will bring Experience working as a Veterinary Assistant for 2+ years A strong desire to learn and apply knowledge/skills learned to daily work life Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral Ability to demonstrate technical procedures as outlined in the technician protocols Demonstrate reliability and follow-through with all work-related tasks / projects Schedule Thursday through Saturday, 7:00am - 7:30pm at our Main location Hybrid Main/North Friday, 7:00am - 7:30pm Main Hospital Saturday & Sunday, 6:00am - 6:30pm North Hospital Salary $18.00 - $22.00/hr, depends on experience Benefits Discount on veterinary care for your furry family Learning and growth opportunities Top-notch employee referral bonus program Mental Health support with Talkspace 6 Week paid Parental leave for full time employees 401k retirement plan options with company match for full-time team members Medical, vision, and dental insurance options for full-time team members Basic life insurance provided at no cost and other benefit options available for full-time team members Paid time off and paid holidays for full-time team members Base Pay $18 - $22 USD Veritas Veterinary Partners is an equal opportunity employer.
