This role involves managing internal and external communications, media relations, public relations, and digital presence to effectively communicate the Pawnee Nation government's mission, vision, and initiatives.QualificationsEducational Requirements - Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field. Preferred: Six (6) years of work experience related to communications, public relations, journalism, or related field may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements.Experience Requirements - Minimum: Three (3) years of work experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field. Preferred: Six (6) years of work experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities - Computer: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, etc., or Mac Computer System, Mac OS, and Mac Software comparable to MS Office, Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Contribute, etc., Proficiency in the proper use and operation of standard office equipment (fax, copier, telephone, etc.) and information systems equipment. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong media relations and public relations abilities. Proficiency in digital communication tools, including social media platforms and content management systems. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Cultural sensitivity and understanding of Pawnee Tribal issues and values. Miscellaneous: Ability to pass a background screening, Must demonstrate strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, Must effectively conduct research, analyze information, and interpret data, Must meet deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and work well under pressure, Knowledge of the principles, methodologies, and applicability of communications, public relations, and journalism terminology and practices, Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with clients, co-workers, and administrators of varying social and cultural backgrounds, Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action, Ability to be persuasive and tactful in controversial situations, Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and requirements, Ability to maintain confidentiality, Must work independently, Must have a valid Oklahoma drivers' license and be insurable with Pawnee Nation's insurance carrier, Must complete required NIMS Certification training within 90 Day Introductory Period.Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; and walk. The employee may occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Work Environment - Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level. Evening and/or weekend work is often required. Occasions may arise requiring work outdoors where exposure to natural weather conditions may occur.
