Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MS/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (06:45 - 19:15) Experience: Minimum 2 years License: NC or Compact license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - MS/Tele skills - Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias - Telemetry monitoring - Use of Rapid Response Teams - Colostomy care, feeding tube care, and management - Renal failure management - Blood product administration - Peripheral line care/management - Phlebotomy and PICC line management - Knowledge of isolation precautions - Management of chest tubes - CPAP/BiPAP and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) - Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) - Oral suctioning and tracheostomy management Description: This position is for an ED holding support role. The ED holding unit accommodates patients awaiting inpatient beds. These patients may have various medical/surgical adult diagnoses. Travelers may take on PCU-level patients and are expected to handle MS/Tele cases. Floating to the emergency department and med-surg areas may be required. The expected patient ratio is 1:6 for MS/Tele and 1:4 for PCU-level patients. Every other weekend is required. During catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters, staff may be called to work. The unit combines high-acuity patients with a fast-paced environment. Standard equipment includes cardiac monitors and IV pumps. Familiarity with documentation and medication systems is essential. Candidates must pass EKG testing before starting. All candidates will be interviewed due to high turnover. RTO after booking is not allowed. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could result in a cancel and DNR.
