Job Summary San Bernardino County Regional Parks is recruiting a Park Superintendent for Yucaipa Regional Park. The role oversees operations, maintenance, safety, security, and resource stewardship of a premier recreational destination featuring three fishing lakes, a swim complex with two water slides and sandy beach areas, tent and RV camping, large group shelters up to 350 guests, picnic facilities, and year‑round recreational amenities. The Park Superintendent ensures these facilities are safe, well‑maintained, and provide high‑quality experiences for residents and visitors. Strong leadership, operational oversight, staff supervision, and a commitment to public service and outdoor recreation are essential. Responsibilities The Park Superintendent will : oversee daily operations, supervise park staff, maintain safety and security standards, manage maintenance schedules, oversee resource stewardship, coordinate with county departments, and ensure the park meets regulatory and environmental requirements. Qualifications Education – Associate degree or equivalent coursework from an accredited college or university. Unofficial transcript or education equivalency required if a degree has not been conferred. Experience – Four years in a construction, retail, parks, project management, or customer service related industry, with direct, in‑person contact with the general public as a primary duty; plus two years of full‑scope supervisory experience. Experience may be concurrent but must be clearly described. Substitutions A Bachelor’s degree may substitute up to one year of qualifying experience, but not the two years of supervisory experience. Two additional years of experience may substitute for the required education. Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Experience in maintenance, building trades, or construction with practical knowledge of project planning and completion. Proven ability to motivate, develop, and lead teams to deliver high‑quality recreational experiences for the public. Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects efficiently. Excellent communication and customer service skills with a positive, solutions‑oriented approach. Experience in cash handling and reconciliation. Working knowledge of machines, tools, equipment, and maintenance practices, including safe operation of tools and vehicles. Ability to enforce park rules and regulations while fostering positive community relations. Qualified Applicator Certificate (pesticide application) and NRPA Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification are highly desirable. Conditions of Employment Pre‑Employment Process – Background investigation, fingerprinting, work history verification, a job‑related physical exam and drug screening. Availability – On‑call as necessary; may require nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical – Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, and climbing. Travel – May be required throughout the county; a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance are required at hire.
