This is an opportunity to influence how computer science education reaches and serves students at scale.
Accountabilities:
- Lead assessment development for AP Computer Science Principles, overseeing the authoring, revision, review, scoring, and management of assessment content and materials.
- Develop and maintain assessment forms that align with approved curriculum frameworks, test specifications, disciplinary standards, and established quality expectations.
- Train, supervise, and collaborate with educator subject-matter experts participating in assessment development committees, ensuring productive meetings and high-quality contributions.
- Facilitate annual assessment development and scoring activities, including virtual and in-person meetings, scoring events, and associated preparation and follow-up.
- Apply generative AI and other emerging technologies thoughtfully and appropriately to support assessment creation, review, efficiency, fairness, validity, and innovation.
- Monitor assessment validity, reliability, security, fairness, reader performance, and overall quality, working with psychometric and assessment teams to identify and address improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate on establishing reliable and valid scoring standards and cut scores for AP Computer Science Principles assessments.
- Contribute to the refinement of the course framework, ensuring learning outcomes remain current, explicit, rigorous, and aligned with higher education and disciplinary expectations.
- Partner with professional learning, higher education, and other internal teams to develop teacher resources, instructional products, educator engagement initiatives, and opportunities that strengthen the reach and impact of the program.
- Recruit and engage educators and college faculty to support assessment development, scoring, professional learning, and other program activities.
- Serve as a trusted subject-matter resource within the broader educator and academic community, including presenting, speaking, moderating discussions, and participating in stakeholder events when appropriate.
- Contribute to research, assessment best practices, process improvement, and strategic initiatives across mathematics, computer science, cybersecurity, and related academic programs.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a directly related discipline is required; a doctorate in the field is strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in standardized assessment development or closely related work, with demonstrated expertise in Computer Science Principles.
- Experience with digital assessment and teaching is preferred, along with strong knowledge of current trends and developments in computer science.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical and academic concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strong project management, organizational, planning, and documentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, stakeholders, and detailed deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and improve processes, maintain tracking documentation, proofread carefully, and deliver high-quality work within established timelines.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with educators, academics, technical specialists, psychometricians, and cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable giving and receiving constructive feedback and building productive relationships across different professional and academic communities.
- Curiosity about emerging technologies and willingness to experiment with, learn, and responsibly apply AI-enabled tools and digital solutions.
- A learner’s mindset, strong customer focus, and commitment to continuous improvement, data-informed decision-making, and educational impact.
- Ability to travel approximately 6–8 times per year, plus up to two additional weeks for the annual AP Reading.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Benefits:
- Competitive hiring range of $96,000–$135,000 USD , with exact compensation determined by location, experience, qualifications, and market considerations.
- Remote-first work environment, with hybrid flexibility available for employees located near designated offices.

- Annual bonus opportunities and potential merit-based salary increases and promotions.
- Comprehensive benefits package designed to support employee wellbeing and long-term career development.
- Opportunities for professional growth, learning, recognition, and advancement.
- Mission-driven work focused on expanding educational and career opportunities for students.
- Collaboration with educators, academic experts, assessment specialists, and cross-functional teams on high-impact programs.
- Opportunity to contribute to responsible and innovative applications of AI in education and assessment.
- Occasional travel for in-person business meetings, professional events, and assessment activities.
