Surgical Technician III

Job Summary And Responsibilities As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients. Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process. To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures. Position Responsibilities Assist surgical team in the scrubbing role according CHI St. Luke's policies and procedures. Maintain sterile field. Report immediately any breaks in aseptic technique. Pass instruments, suture products, medication, and sponge materials to surgeon. Assist with retracting of tissue and organs, and suctioning by holding the retracting. Instrument that has been placed by the surgeon. Electrosurgical current may be applied as directed by the surgeon. Perform surgical counts with the RN according to policy and procedure. Proficiently function in the scrub role for all services provided Function as a resource for at least one specific service. Utilize/open supplies judiciously, offers suggestions, improvements with focus on quality and cost containment. Actively participate in product evaluations. Assure appropriate equipment and supplies are available for each procedure. Work closely with the instrument room as service specialist/instrument liaison to assure provision of quality. Assist in housekeeping duties as directed to insure safe patient environment and an efficient room turnover. Assist RN with circulator duties while under direct supervision. Work assigned shifts, responding when called upon for additional or emergency service as necessary and on-call according to Perioperative policies. Job Requirements Education Required High School Diploma/GED Preferred Graduate of an accredited educational program for Surgical Technologists Licensure/Certifications Required Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C) or Certified First Assistant (CSFA) BLS (AHA only) Experience Required None Where You'll Work We are offering a $10,000 Sign On Bonus to new hires that meet the eligibility requirements.
