Position Summary Baptist Health Brookwood is looking for a Director of Nursing Operations overseeing our Emergency Department . The Director of Nursing Operations is responsible for strategic and operational oversight of a large scope, service line, and/or complex setting. Accountable for achievement of departments and hospital goals in concert with other hospital and medical staff leadership. About our Hospital Serving the Homewood community, Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital is a 595-bed acute-care hospital located in Birmingham, Alabama. The facility offers a full complement of services, including emergency care, cardiovascular care, bariatrics, orthopedics and rehabilitation, and surgical services. It also is one of the largest providers of psychiatric care in the state. The hospital has earned Primary Stroke Center certification from The Joint Commission, and its bariatric program has been accredited as a Comprehensive Center by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). The Women’s Medical Center provides comprehensive women’s services through all stages of life, including gynecologic surgery, maternity care, and labor and delivery services. Responsibilities Evaluates the environment and makes recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety, and compliance with various standards of care, regulatory / governing bodies i.e., OSHA, JCAHO, infection control, risk management. Plans, leads, organizes, directs, & evaluates the delivery of patient care to achieve sustained outcomes. Serves as a liaison to nursing administration for team members. Demonstrates professional accountability by maintaining proficiency in assigned role and involvement in professional organizations. Facilitates and supports team member involvement in professional and organizational activities. Upholds self and staff accountable to comply with ethical principles, corporate compliance, and standards of practice. Knowledge of risk management concepts. Able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age specific needs and to provide nursing care needed as described in the unit/department’s policies and procedures. Manages various human resources functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Qualifications Experience Three (3) years as a registered nurse in an acute care or outpatient setting and at least one (1) year leadership experience. Education/Training Graduate of an approved school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with Graduate degree in Business or health-related field preferred. Licensure/Certification Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Alabama or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
