Job Description

The General Production Worker supports large-scale food production by preparing ingredients, operating machinery, and following strict food safety and quality standards. This role works both independently and as part of a collaborative production team to prepare soup dumplings and other food items in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The position requires strong attention to detail, reliable attendance, and adherence to established procedures to ensure consistent product quality and a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for dumpling and other food production according to established recipes and procedures.
• Operate production machinery to prepare soup dumplings and other food items safely and efficiently.
• Follow company standard operating procedures for human and food safety, as well as quality assurance requirements.
• Properly sanitize and organize tools, equipment, and work areas to meet USDA standards.
• Work as part of a team during active production runs and independently during prep work.
• Follow instructions carefully and complete assigned tasks accurately and on time.
• Maintain strong adherence to procedures and demonstrate consistent attention to detail throughout all production activities.
• Handle packing, packaging, inventory-related tasks, material handling, and general labor as needed.
• Use RF scanners and other equipment as required to support production and inventory processes.
• Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts and maintain excellent attendance, including using nearby street parking when the main lot is full to avoid delays.
• Comply with all hygiene and safety practices, including handwashing, PPE usage, and food safety rules.
• Avoid eating, drinking, or chewing gum on the production floor and ensure no glass or brittle plastic enters the production area.
• Remove all jewelry and removable cosmetics before entering production areas to prevent contamination.
• Report any issues related to safety, quality, or equipment to a lead or supervisor promptly.
• Escort visitors as required and ensure they follow sign-in and safety procedures at all times.

• Comfort working weekday PM shifts (approximately 2:30 PM – 1:00 AM, Monday through Thursday, as scheduled).
• Willingness to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and other hours as business needs require.
• Commitment to maintaining personal hygiene and health, including communicating with a manager if feeling unwell.
• Ability to maintain clean work attire, including avoiding fuzzy clothing and wearing closed-toe shoes.
• Willingness to avoid fragrances, perfumes, and colognes to prevent contamination of food products.
• Ability to remove all jewelry and removable cosmetics, such as rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, fake eyelashes, and fake nails, before work.
• Comfort asking a lead or QA for assistance with securing personal belongings when needed.
• Willingness to consistently wash hands with soap before work and after using the bathroom.
• Ability to correctly wear and maintain PPE, including hair nets, beard nets, lab coats, gloves, cut-resistant gloves, and earplugs as required.
• Comfort working in wet or potentially dirty conditions during production and sanitation activities.
• Flexibility and adaptability to work in different production areas with varying temperatures.

Work Environment

This role is based in a food production facility focused on large-scale preparation of dumplings and related products. The primary schedule is a weekday PM shift (approximately 2:30 PM – 1:00 AM, Monday through Thursday), with the possibility of additional hours on weekends, evenings, holidays, or other times as business needs require. The environment includes active production lines, machinery, and areas where floors and work surfaces may be wet, and clothing and footwear may become wet or dirty during production and sanitation activities. Temperatures can vary by area, so employees should be prepared to dress in layers for comfort. Parking can be limited in the main lot, and employees may use nearby street parking and safely cross at the crosswalk to arrive on time. The role involves frequent standing, walking, handling materials, packing, and using RF scanners and other production tools. A specific dress code and PPE are required: clean clothing with no fuzzy materials, no shorts, and closed-toe shoes. Fragrances, perfumes, and colognes are not allowed due to food safety. All jewelry and removable cosmetics must be removed before entering production areas. Employees must wear hair nets and beard nets (white or blue, with red nets used only when instructed for allergen work), navy blue lab coats (reusable or disposable as provided), and appropriate gloves. Cut-resistant gloves with blue gloves on top are mandatory when working with knives, and earplugs are recommended, especially in high-noise areas such as near the spiral freezer. Eating, drinking, and gum are prohibited on the production floor, and no glass or brittle plastic is allowed. Visitors must be signed in and escorted at all times to maintain safety and compliance.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sumner, WA.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
