Non-Profit Faith-Based Business Manager

The Business Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s operational infrastructure, financial processes, compliance requirements, technology systems, and administrative functions. This role ensures the organization has the systems, processes, and resources necessary to operate effectively, maintain strong financial stewardship, and support continued growth. The Business Manager serves as a key member of the leadership team and works closely with executive leadership and the Board of Directors to translate organizational priorities into effective operational practices. Primary Responsibilities Operations Management Oversee day-to-day operational systems, processes, and administrative functions. Develop and improve scalable systems and workflows to support organizational effectiveness and growth. Identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical solutions. Establish and monitor performance indicators related to operational effectiveness. Manage vendor and consultant relationships, contracts, and service agreements. Evaluate vendors and negotiate terms within approved spending parameters. Collaborate with staff and leadership to monitor projects, resolve issues, and identify opportunities for improvement. Oversee day-to-day financial operations and maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Manage or support the financial close process and account reconciliations. Coordinate financial information across accounting, CRM, and other organizational systems. Provide operational input into the annual budgeting process and monitor performance against budget. Monitor revenue and expenses, identify variances, and communicate financial trends to leadership. Maintain appropriate internal controls and risk management procedures. Review and approve invoices and organizational expenditures within delegated authority. Coordinate payments and other financial transactions in accordance with established procedures. Support audits, financial reporting, and other required financial processes. Compliance & Risk Management Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, contractual requirements, and organizational policies. Manage organizational compliance calendars, registrations, licenses, and required filings. Coordinate insurance renewals and monitor compliance with insurance requirements. Support preparation of materials for Board of Directors and leadership meetings. Assist with governance processes, policies, and organizational documentation. Monitor regulatory developments and communicate relevant changes to leadership. Identify operational and organizational risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies. Program Administration Support the administration and operational execution of the organization’s programs and services. Ensure program-related financial and administrative processes are accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable requirements. Develop and maintain systems for tracking, reporting, documentation, and compliance. Support the implementation of new programs, initiatives, or organizational requirements. Coordinate processes involving documentation, reporting, eligibility, and other program requirements. Partner with internal teams to ensure operational resources and processes effectively support organizational priorities. Technology & Process Improvement Evaluate and implement technology solutions that improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness. Identify opportunities for automation, integration, and process improvement. Improve data management, reporting, and information-sharing capabilities. Support cybersecurity, data privacy, and appropriate technology controls. Oversee the effective use and integration of financial, CRM, HR, and other organizational systems. Promote the effective use of technology to improve workflows, communication, and decision-making. People & Organizational Development Support recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes in partnership with organizational leadership. Assist with organizational structure, staffing plans, and development of effective personnel systems. Support performance management, staff development, and accountability processes. Help ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and organizational policies. Promote a collaborative, accountable, and mission-aligned organizational culture. Partner with leadership to identify organizational needs and strengthen internal capabilities. Stakeholder Relations Represent the organization at meetings, events, and community activities as appropriate. Participate in meetings with partners, stakeholders, vendors, and other external parties. Develop and maintain productive relationships with key organizational partners. Communicate organizational needs, priorities, and operational matters professionally and effectively. Support organizational initiatives, special projects, and strategic priorities as directed by leadership. Qualifications & Experience Demonstrated experience managing organizational operations in a finance, compliance, HR, nonprofit, small business, or similarly complex environment. Hands-on experience with financial operations, accounting processes, budgeting, and reconciliations. Experience working with accounting, CRM, and other business systems, including systems that require manual reconciliation or integration. Demonstrated ability to manage compliance requirements, regulatory deadlines, and organizational documentation. Track record of developing and implementing effective processes, systems, and operational improvements. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential financial, personnel, and organizational information. Ability to learn and manage complex regulatory, operational, or program requirements. Comfortable working closely with executive leadership and a Board of Directors within clearly defined areas of responsibility. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and levels of an organization.
