Field Service Engineer - Chromatography & MS

Salary: $69,000 - 109,000 per year Requirements:

• We need an advanced degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or a bachelors degree with 5+ years of experience in operating, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or calibrating sophisticated analytical instruments.
• A background in Electronics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry, or another related technical field is preferred.
• Hands-on expertise with ultra-high vacuum systems, high-voltage electronics, and complex electro-mechanical assemblies is required.
• Strong hardware and software troubleshooting ability is essential.
• We expect you to read and interpret technical documentation, electrical schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Proficiency with Windows operating systems, networking fundamentals, and standard business software is needed.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills are required.
• You should be able to work independently while partnering effectively with cross-functional teams.
• A valid drivers license is required.
• You must be willing to travel up to 50% as business needs require, though travel is typically much less in this resident role.
• You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work safely in laboratory and cleanroom environments.
• Ongoing technical training and certification participation is expected.
• Previous experience supporting electron microscopy, spectroscopy, or other advanced analytical instrumentation is preferred.
• Experience mentoring or training junior engineers or laboratory personnel is preferred.
• Strong organizational and time management skills in a customer-facing setting are preferred.
• Additional language skills are a plus.

• We serve as the primary onsite Field Service Engineer supporting our customers laboratory operations.
• We install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and validate advanced analytical and microscopy instrumentation.
• We perform scheduled preventive maintenance to maximize instrument reliability and performance.
• We diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, vacuum, electronic, and electro-mechanical issues.
• We collaborate with remote technical support, engineering, and product specialists to solve advanced technical problems.
• We build strong customer relationships through outstanding service and technical expertise.
• We train customer personnel on proper instrument use, maintenance, and best practices.
• We maintain accurate service documentation, maintenance records, and reporting in our systems.
• We ensure compliance with safety policies, laboratory protocols, and customer site requirements.
• We support continuous improvement efforts and share technical knowledge with teammates.
