Material Expediter

Description Leidos is seeking a skilled and motivated Material Expediter to join our team at the Port Hueneme facility. This position plays a crucial role in shipping and receiving material to and from Antarctica. Physical requirements include standing for the full shift, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds, and performing tasks such as bending, stooping, kneeling, turning, and pivoting. A valid forklift operator certification is required. Location Port Hueneme, CA Compensation Minimum pay of $28.66 per hour. This position is covered by SCA guidelines. Responsibilities Coordinate shipping and receiving of inbound and outbound material or cargo from various customers/suppliers and locations in a timely manner. Verify contents of shipments and ensure correct material or cargo delivered matches the request. Properly package material based on type and carrier restrictions, and prepare cargo for loading into shipping containers, commercial trucks, or Air Force pallets, securing for shipment. Operate powered and non‑powered material handling equipment as needed. Maintain accurate cargo tracking system updates after identification, packing and dimensional measurements. Stage material or cargo in the correct waiting area for transport via commercial air or surface. Communicate and collaborate effectively with Material Expediting and Documentation teams. Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices, promoting a culture of safety awareness. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of three (3+) years of diversified experience in a warehousing environment, including shipping and receiving freight. Experience in the transportation or supply industry is a plus. Experience loading cargo into containers for ocean shipment; hazardous material handling certification is a plus. Valid forklift operator certification; ability to operate forklifts up to 10,000 pounds or higher. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). Possession or ability to obtain a favorable public trust or higher adjudication. Requirements U.S. citizenship is required due to contract requirements. No later than four months prior to the start date, a Public Trust security clearance must be obtained. Physical ability to execute the described tasks for the duration of a shift.
