Job Description

Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification required
BLS certification required
1+ years of CVOR/cardiac surgical tech experience required
Strong knowledge of cardiac/thoracic surgical procedures, instrumentation, and cardiopulmonary bypass

Duties:

Provide scrub support during cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures (CABG, valve repairs/replacements, aortic repairs, etc.)
Prepare and maintain sterile field, specialized cardiac instruments, and equipment for CVOR cases
Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons, anticipating procedural needs during complex cardiac cases
Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after procedures
Coordinate with perfusion team and surgical staff regarding cardiopulmonary bypass setup
Handle and prepare specimens for pathology per facility protocol
Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, circulating RN, and anesthesia to ensure smooth case flow
Assist with room turnover and terminal cleaning between cases
Maintain and organize specialized cardiac surgical instruments and equipment
