Position Overview The Nurse Resident operates under the supervision of the program coordinator, unit manager/director, educator, and preceptors, providing nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with current standards of care. What You Will Do Demonstrate accountability for and commitment to professional nursing practice through participation in the nurse residency program activities. Consistently meet the necessary performance expectations associated with the residency curriculum to ensure successful completion of the residency program. Engage with the Transition to Practice Coordinator, department leadership, educators, preceptors, co-workers, and other nurse residents to ensure effective learning and professional growth that leads to a successful transition into independent practice. Demonstrate knowledge and application of the nursing process as it relates to patients and families. Collaborate with healthcare team members, patients and their families in the provision of care. Delegate to and provide direct supervision to other healthcare team members as appropriate in the implementation of the plan of care. Act as an advocate for patients and their families. Practice within accepted ethical and legal parameters of nursing. Adhere to hospital and department compliance policies, and any and all applicable laws and regulations. Deliver excellent service by utilizing Relationship-Based Care to advocate for safety, patient preferences, and optimal communication through partnering with patients and families. Role model the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant. Certification(s) Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Education Graduated with a Baccalaureate Degree or an Associate Degree from an accredited nursing program within one year prior to the time of application.
