Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to lead the delivery of technically complex infrastructure projects across water supply, wastewater, treatment, drainage and related civil engineering systems. This role will suit an experienced professional who can combine strong technical expertise with commercial awareness, project leadership and a commitment to delivering safe, sustainable and resilient solutions. You will work closely with clients, multidisciplinary design teams, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders to develop projects from concept through detailed design, construction and commissioning.


Your responsibilities will include managing and reviewing engineering investigations, feasibility studies, hydraulic assessments, designs, specifications, technical reports and construction documentation. You will provide technical direction on water and wastewater networks, pumping stations, treatment facilities, storage systems and associated infrastructure, while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards, environmental requirements and health and safety procedures. The role will also involve preparing scopes of work, fee proposals and project programmes; monitoring budgets, risks and quality; mentoring less experienced engineers; and supporting site inspections, contract administration and the resolution of technical issues during construction.


Applicants should hold a degree in civil, environmental, water or wastewater engineering, or a closely related discipline, together with substantial professional experience in the planning and design of water or wastewater infrastructure. Professional registration or chartered status is desirable, as is proven experience using hydraulic modelling, design and project management tools. You will need strong knowledge of industry standards, asset management principles and regulatory frameworks, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate will be organised, commercially aware and comfortable working independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams. A proactive approach to problem-solving, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement is essential. The position may require occasional travel to project and construction sites, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet demanding deadlines.
