Public Transportation Service Provider

Provide public transportation service for the general public which is limited to reservation-based operations; run related transportation operations, including the Reserve A Ride service, Handivan Service and the Senior Transportation Program; transport, drop off and pick up individuals at their designated house address, medical appointments, and other trip origins and destinations and provide quality customer service.

The essential functions of the job are not limited to those listed in the job description. The City retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.

• Provides transportation to the general public based on scheduled reservations, which involves boarding and disembarking passengers within the City limits.
• Provides door to door service for persons with disabilities.

Additional duties include:

• Attending meetings and training sessions.
• Performing additional duties to support operational requirements as assigned.

Physical demands include:

• Light physical effort, exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly or requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
• Constant sitting, vision, hearing, talking to use computer, telephone and communicate effectively with others, and to maintain operational awareness of surroundings.
• Occasional crawling, pushing/pulling, handling, crouching, bending.
• Rarely standing, walking, reaching, fine dexterity, kneeling.

Non-physical demands include:

• Responsible for appropriate use and maintenance of City equipment, tools and other resources, including work time.
• Regular and predictable attendance is expected.
• May occasionally experience frequent change of tasks.
• May rarely experience time pressure, emergency situations, irregular work schedule/overtime, working closely with others as part of a team, noisy/distracting environment.

Machines, tools, equipment, software and hardware typically require use of standard office equipment and telephone/radio, and related software and hardware; and any other tools and equipment as appropriate or as assigned, such as wheelchair lift.

Work environment is performed in a vehicle environment, where there may be exposure to extreme temperatures seasonally; wetness/humidity monthly, and rare exposure to communicable diseases, physical danger or abuse. The employee must wear appropriate protective equipment for the assigned task (hard hat, safety vest, steel-toe shoes, etc.), and any other equipment as apparent or assigned, if any.
