Maintenance Supervisor Electrical & Automation

This role leads a team of maintenance technicians in a fast-paced distribution center, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical, automation, and material handling systems. You will combine hands-on electrical expertise with strong leadership to minimize downtime, support automated warehouse equipment, and drive continuous improvement in a highly regulated pharmaceutical distribution environment.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, mentor, and coordinate a team of 810 maintenance technicians in a fast-paced distribution environment.
  • Plan, assign, and review daily maintenance activities to ensure timely completion and high-quality workmanship.
  • Ensure safe and efficient maintenance of electrical systems up to 480V in accordance with applicable standards and procedures.
  • Oversee work on 400-amp cabinets, transfer switches, and Pick system robots to support reliable distribution operations.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair material handling equipment, including conveyors, sortation systems, and automated warehouse equipment.
  • Support PLC-controlled systems used in automated distribution or warehouse environments, ensuring stable and reliable operation.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system issues quickly and accurately to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, including low-voltage wiring, testing, and repairs on a variety of distribution center systems.
  • Use multimeters and other diagnostic tools to test circuits, sensors, and components and verify proper operation.
  • Assist with controls and automation troubleshooting, including identifying faults in PLC-based systems and supporting corrective actions.
  • Perform facilities maintenance as needed, including work on dock doors, fire systems, HVAC, and general building equipment.
  • Support and execute preventive maintenance (PM) programs to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned outages.
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Promote a strong safety culture by following and enforcing safety procedures and safe work practices during all maintenance activities.
Essential Skills
  • Strong electrical expertise, including maintenance and troubleshooting of systems up to 480V.
  • Hands-on experience working with 400-amp cabinets and transfer switches.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Pick system robots or similar automated equipment.
  • Proficiency in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing material handling equipment such as conveyors, sortation systems, and automated warehouse equipment.
  • Experience supporting PLC-controlled systems in automated distribution or warehouse environments.
  • Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, including low-voltage wiring, testing, and repairs.
  • Ability to use multimeters and other diagnostic tools to test circuits, sensors, and electrical components.
  • Experience assisting with controls and automation troubleshooting, including identifying faults in PLC-based systems.
  • Proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) to track and manage maintenance activities.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supervising a team of maintenance technicians, ideally 810 people.
  • Prior supervisory experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and control systems to minimize downtime.
  • Ability to perform facilities maintenance, including dock doors, fire systems, HVAC, and building equipment.
  • Solid understanding of maintenance management and maintenance supervision principles.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, automated distribution environment with a focus on operational excellence.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Military experience that brings discipline, structured problem-solving skills, and a strong sense of accountability.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley systems and PLC programming in an industrial or distribution setting.
  • Experience in automation and controls, including exposure to automated warehouse or material handling systems.
  • Experience supporting preventive maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively guide, coach, and coordinate a diverse maintenance team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple maintenance activities in a dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance in a regulated pharmaceutical distribution setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a pharmaceutical distribution center environment that operates with high standards of reliability, cleanliness, and safety. You will work around automated material handling systems, conveyors, sortation equipment, Pick system robots, PLC-controlled systems, and 480V electrical infrastructure, including 400-amp cabinets and transfer switches. The position follows a SundayThursday schedule, from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, supporting second-shift operations in a fast-paced setting. You will regularly use diagnostic tools such as multimeters and work within a CMMS-driven maintenance process. The environment emphasizes adherence to safety procedures, regulatory compliance, and consistent, professional attire appropriate for a pharmaceutical distribution facility.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $102000.00/yr.
