Job Description / Essential Elements Develop and present lessons to students; evaluate student progress; maintain proper classroom control and learning environment; assist in curriculum development. Develop and present lessons that demonstrate and prepare material consistent with the approved course of study. Develop and present lessons where performance objectives/competencies are understood by the student and support district goals. Evaluate student progress based primarily on achievement of performance objectives/competencies. Use a variety of instructional techniques and materials appropriate to the course and adult students. Maintain current and accurate records of student attendance and progress. Demonstrate and promote punctuality. Participate with fellow staff members in the development and implementation of curriculum and instruction. Keep up to date in subject area and continually work for improvement of instructional techniques. Adhere to approved course of study policies and procedures. Attend and participate in program and district meetings. Supervise proper use of equipment and facilitate student safety. Other Duties and Responsibilities Treat students with courtesy and respect. Demonstrate awareness of students' social, psychological, emotional and academic needs. Share ideas, techniques and materials as appropriate with other staff members. Demonstrate willingness to offer and receive suggestions. Cooperate in the use and care of all equipment and materials. Maintain current knowledge of available instructional materials. Keep informed of social, political and economic development in the school district community. Demonstrate awareness of the socioeconomic and ethnic makeup of the community. Have knowledge of the functions of various community agencies including referral services. Actively participate in school/community related organizations. Promote community responsibility among students. Help inform the community of the services and educational opportunities available through adult education. Minimum Qualifications Appropriate California teaching credential. Requirements / Qualifications A teaching credential issued by the state of California authorizing the teaching of the subject is requested.
