Employment Status: Part-Time Pay Interval: Hourly Pay Rate Maximum: 35 Pay Rate Minimum: 35 Shift: 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. Live the Mission Position Summary The Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN) deliversquality nursing care to patientsthrough interpersonal contactand provides care and services to assure patientsafety and attainor maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well- being of each patient in accordance withall applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. Reports to supervising licensed nurse Working Conditions Functions only under the directsupervision of a licensed nurse who agrees to act as supervisor and who is immediatelyavailable to the GPN Works in department as well as throughout facility Subject to frequent interruptions Involved with patients, associates, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc. under all conditions and circumstances Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, etc. Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends andholidays, and in otherpositions temporarily as necessary Attends and participates in continuing education programs Subject to falls, burns from equipment,odors, etc. throughout the workday Possible exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposureto the AIDS and hepatitisB viruses, and COVID-19 Education, Experience, and Licensure/Certifications Nursing studentsin their last semester and graduate nursingstudents must practiceunder the direction and supervision of alicensed nurse, performing tasks within the scope of practice of thesupervising nurse of equal or higher educational preparation. Must have CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain currentduring employment. Specific Requirements Must work within scope of practiceas defined by the Massachusetts chapter 88, Acts of 2024 and facilitystandards May not practiceunder this authorization, prior to obtaining a nursing license,for more than one (1) year from the date of hire. The graduate may not practice underthis authorization if they receive a failing score on the NCLEX examination. May not representthemselves to be a registered nurse or licensedpractical nurse Mustpossess the ability to make independent decisionswhen circumstances warrantsuch action Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm as well as willingness to handle difficult patients Must be knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures as well as the laws,regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the post-acute care facility Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals,objectives, policies, and procedures of the nursing department Must perform proficiently in all applicablecompetency areas Maintains professional workingrelationships with all associates, vendors, etc. Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information Must understand andfollow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriatecompliance training Essential Functions Must be able to knowledgeably and competently deliver quality nursing care topatients Must be able to evaluatepatient needs throughongoing assessment and revise care plans basedon changes in patient'scondition Must be able to chart appropriately and timely Must exhibit excellent customer service and a positiveattitude towards patients Must be able to assistin the evacuation of patients Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment Must be able to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team Must be able to sit, stand,bend, lift, push, pull, stoop,walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language Must be able to lift 35 lbs floorto waist, lift 35 lbs waist to shoulder, lift and carry35 lbs, and push/pull 35 lbs #J-18808-Ljbffr Life Care Centers of America
