Production Operations Manager

About the Role Our client, a dynamic force in the Oil & Gas sector, is seeking an experienced and results-driven Production Operations Manager to lead their operations in the Welkom, Free State region. This role is crucial for overseeing the safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of hydrocarbons. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily operations, optimizing production output, ensuring asset integrity, and leading a team of production engineers and field staff. This hybrid role allows for a blend of on-site operational oversight in Welkom and strategic planning/reporting from a remote or office setting. You will play a key part in maximizing recovery rates, managing operational budgets, and upholding the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance. Key Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of oil and gas production operations in the designated area. Develop and implement production strategies to maximize output and minimize downtime. Manage and mentor the production operations team, fostering a culture of safety and high performance. Ensure compliance with all industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies. Monitor and analyze production data to identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements. Manage operational budgets, controlling costs and ensuring financial targets are met. Oversee maintenance programs and asset integrity initiatives for production facilities. Coordinate with drilling, reservoir, and facilities engineering teams to ensure integrated project execution. Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures. Prepare regular operational reports for senior management. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 9 years of experience in oil and gas production operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role. Demonstrated experience in managing production facilities and field operations. Strong understanding of production optimization techniques, artificial lift systems, and flow assurance. Proven ability to manage budgets, control costs, and drive operational efficiency. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Solid knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices in the Oil & Gas industry. Experience with production monitoring and data analysis software. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment, balancing on-site and off-site responsibilities. Based in or willing to relocate to the Welkom, Free State area.
