GTFL Support Specialist

Whites Residental

Status: Regular, Part-time, Non-exempt


Position summary: The Growing Teens for Life (GTFL) Support Specialist assists the GTFL Coordinator in providing career readiness, educational support, and independent living services to students participating in the program. This role supports student success through training facilitation, interview and resume coaching, certification tracking, onboarding support, and coordination of external workforce resources. The position also assists with educational groups, leadership development activities, and administrative support related to student progress and program operations. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong organizational, communication, and mentoring skills while maintaining a supportive and professional approach with students.


Qualifications:

  • A Christian with strong convictions who is also in agreement with Josiah White's mission statement, Statement of Faith, and Code of Conduct.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance.
Essential job functions:
  • Facilitate WEST Training for new students and assist with coordinating external workforce and educational resources, such as WorkOne representatives, to support programming and supervision needs.
  • Review Employment Applications and provide students with guidance related to job readiness and application completion.
  • Provide Interview Preparation and Coaching by conducting mock interviews, offering feedback, and helping students develop professional communication skills.
  • Maintain and Update Program Materials including WEST folder templates, training resources, and related educational materials.
  • Assist with Educational and Skill-Building Groups including certification labs, Independent Living groups, and Purpose Driven Leadership activities.
  • Support Student Onboarding and Transition Processes through participation in one-on-one onboarding meetings, midterm reviews, and exit interviews with GTFL students.
  • Assist Students with Resume Development and other career readiness activities designed to support employment success.
  • Track and Monitor Student Progress related to certifications, grades, work hours, and other program or grant-related requirements.
  • Provide Administrative and Program Support by maintaining accurate records and communicating relevant student progress information to the GTFL Coordinator.
  • Complete Additional Duties as Assigned by the GTFL Coordinator to support the ongoing success and operation of the GTFL program.

Work Schedule: This position requires, on average, 20 hours per week. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am to 12:00 pm. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be required.

Physical Demands & Work Environment: The employee in this role will work in an office setting and/or community settings as appropriate to service delivery. Minimal local travel is required occasionally. The employee must be able to successfully complete Mindset, our crisis and de-escalation curriculum and CPR/First Aid training, which requires the ability to get on the floor, on knees, and back up.
