Title: Production Quality Engineer
Reports to: Quality Engineering Manager
Job summary:
The Production Quality Engineer conducts regular audits of all lines and develops project trackers to resolve process and product non-conformances. Project status is covered in weekly meetings with all parties involved in the issue until resolved.
The Production Quality Engineer works closely with engineering support, customer engineers and operations to determine key critical areas and develop structured means to measure capability. The Production Quality Engineer also works closely with customers, technical writers, and Industrial Engineering on New Product Introductions and first article programs. The Production Quality Engineer will also work with Process Engineering to make improvements in the existing processes.
The Production Quality Engineer is responsible for process quality. He/She looks at workstation quality and seeks methods to assure consistency in the process, recommending modification in process methods, fixtures, and part/package design as a result of documented and controlled experiments on assembly techniques and component reliability.
The Production Quality Engineer will manage/direct Quality Engineering Technicians, Quality Audit Inspectors, and Production Quality Assurance Inspectors. They will ensure that the employees are trained, and complete their day to day assignments.
Job description:
Draft quality assurance policies and procedures. Document internal audits and other quality assurance activities. Implement RCCAs for internal and external non-conformances. Collect and compile statistical quality data. Lead weekly calls to improve production quality with customer and production teams. Analyze quality data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system. Review the implementation and efficiency of quality and inspection systems. Plan, conduct, and monitor testing and inspection of materials and products to ensure finished product quality. Provide guidance to Quality Technicians and Auditors to ensure that the processes are audited per their schedule, and any nonconformances written up, and effective corrective actions implemented.
Requirements:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a closely related engineering field plus 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment performing product quality engineering or supplier quality engineering functions.
Experience must include:
- 2 years of experience conducting quality assurance activities in a production environment, including audits, inspection systems, and quality data analysis.
- 2 years of experience leading or supporting ISO 9001 quality management systems, including participation in internal and/or external audits.
- 2 years of experience leading or supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions, including use of 8D, 5 Whys, and CAPA methodologies.
- 2 years of experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and customers to address product non-conformance issues and implement containment actions.
- 2 years of experience using computer-based tools (Google Workspace or Microsoft Office) to analyze quality data, create reports, and present findings.
- 2 years of experience performing risk analysis using PFMEA in a manufacturing environment.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or ASQ certification required.
