Industrial Automation Technician T4

Amentum is seeking an Automation Technician 4 to join our 1st shift operations & maintenance team in Clayton. The typical work schedule is Monday–Friday 5:30 to 2:00. The role requires knowledge of automation controls, HVAC, electrical, mechanical maintenance, building automation, networking and a strong willingness to learn in an industrial, office, production and testing environment. Responsibilities Assist technicians and the client automation supervisor in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive maintenance on building facilities equipment and systems. Perform a variety of preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Assist with preventative maintenance activities assigned. Help the team by performing repairs and modifications on buildings and facilities equipment and systems. Perform basic troubleshooting, maintenance and minor repair of building automation system, metering, network switches, production line automation and UPS systems. Perform basic repairs to automation controls. Perform basic machine tool equipment troubleshooting. Operate aerial and platform lifts. Read and understand schematics, diagrams and specifications. Demonstrate solid understanding of lock‑out tag‑out practices and procedures. Operate a PC with Microsoft Office Suite and building automation software packages. Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled in the CMMS. Respond to customers on all work orders while ensuring compliance with codes, regulations and industry standards. Safely perform job functions following proper safety guidelines, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and wearing required PPE. Operate measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments for energy efficiency solutions. Operate hand tools, laptops and diagnostic hardware to perform work. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Three years of experience maintaining buildings, facilities or equipment in a large commercial or industrial environment related to automation systems, or equivalent education and experience. Valid driver’s license. Ability to work in an aerial or scissor lift up to 30+ feet. Basic PLC experience, including troubleshooting and making program changes with building automation systems. Basic equipment troubleshooting experience. Ability to differentiate color‑coded wires. Basic understanding of mechanical systems. Ability to understand and follow step‑by‑step procedures. Detail‑oriented. Willingness to work overtime, holidays and weekends as required. Additional Information Qualified applicants must pass a pre‑employment substance abuse test. This position does not include sponsorship for U.S. work authorization. Must be able to obtain a security access badge at the client’s location. The position may require various shifts, weekends and alternate work schedules. Physical Requirements Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders and stairs at least 10 times during a shift. Flexibility to bend, stoop, squat and kneel repeatedly during a shift. Ability to move in a 90‑degree fashion repeatedly during a shift. Ability to stretch and reach repeatedly during a shift. Ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during a shift. Use of a company/client approved utility knife. Capability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color‑coding. Repeated wrist movements required. Ability to interact professionally with clients despite periods of stress. Compensation Details Hourly at $34.00. The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is a good‑faith estimate of what the company intends to offer at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, relevant laws and other factors.
