Partnering with families, educators, and the community, we challenge our scholars to take ownership of their learning through authentic, innovative pathways. Under the supervision of the Goodwin University Magnet School System Chief Operating Officer and the Goodwin University Director of Campus Safety, the part-time mobile classroom driver is responsible for transporting the vehicle to activities and events and for setting up and breaking down vehicle components associated with the magnet school system and the Regional School Choice Office (RSCO). This position may also operate other GUMSS/GU vehicles. The mobile classroom driver plays a vital role in supporting school choice outreach and family engagement efforts across the Greater Hartford Region. The driver helps bring essential information and services directly to communities by supporting recruitment events, assisting with on-site setup, and ensuring the mobile classroom is fully functional and welcoming for all families. Working closely with the marketing, recruitment, retention, and Welcome Center team to support the district and RSCO initiatives, the driver contributes to expanding access to public School Choice opportunities by helping deliver reliable, community-based engagement services. Essential Job Functions / Primary Responsibilities Transport the mobile classroom throughout the State of Connecticut as required for various marketing and outreach activities, including but not limited to classes, educational functions, or community-related events. Check the vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order. Maintain logs of working hours of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations. Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chains, binders, or covers. Set up and break down equipment in the mobile classroom. Follow appropriate safety procedures. Work a flexible schedule (which may include week nights, weekends, and holidays). Be responsible for vehicle cleanliness and coordinate minor repairs with the Fleet Manager. Safely conduct all work and ensure that all work safety practices are followed. Perform other related tasks as assigned. Other Functions Assist with tours, public relations events, fairs, and marketing presentations. Conduct demonstrations on the mobile classroom. Lead workshops for visitors, students, and clients. Assist GUMS staff during training workshops. Continue professional development and training; keep current with trends. Assist other department staff as needed to promote a team effort. Perform similar or related work as required, directed, or as the situation dictates. Able to lift and carry 20 lbs. Qualifications Education, Training, and Experience Class A commercial driver's license. Class B CDL License - with a P endorsement (Preferred). Maintain a valid commercial driver medical certification as required by CT State law. High School Diploma. Experience working with children. Experience supporting programs, events, or community outreach.
