Job Requirements High School Diploma or GED (Required) 3–4 years of customer service experience (Required) 1–2 years of clerical, healthcare, finance, and/or insurance industry experience (Required) Ability to operate multiple computer applications Excellent verbal and written communication skills Effective problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills Job Overview The Financial Compliance Counselor is responsible for providing patients with a positive financial experience by helping patients navigate and understand insurance benefits and out‑of‑pocket responsibility. The role involves creating accurate financial estimates for patients shopping for healthcare services and for services scheduled at TriHealth hospital facilities, ambulatory sites, or provider offices, including providers for which TriHealth does not bill. The counselor coordinates financial clearance with insurance companies, providers, and patients in an inbound/outbound call‑center setting, making outreach calls to educate patients about insurance benefits, financial responsibilities, and financial assistance options, with a special focus on out‑of‑network plans. The role ensures compliance with guidelines set by government programs and TriHealth policies, such as federal regulations on Price Transparency and the No Surprises Act. Key Responsibilities Anticipate customer needs, solve problems, and maintain consistent and positive interactions with patients, internal customers, and co‑workers. Meet individual goals for call quality and monthly call audits. Complete assigned work queues and encounters to meet team deadlines. Educate customers on coverage benefits, financial responsibility, and obtain consents as needed within policy guidelines, maintaining timeliness. Demonstrate knowledge of insurance benefits and financial assistance programs, including HCAP/TriHealth Financial Assistance guidelines and pricing. Adhere to competency guidelines pertaining to government and TriHealth policy guidelines (Price Transparency, NSA, 501(a), HCAP, etc.). Document benefits, estimates, and account notes accurately and timely in Epic and present them to patients promptly.
