Factory Journeyman Electrician

The Journeyman Electrician supports factory, agricultural, and operations maintenance activities by performing high-voltage electrical work, troubleshooting complex equipment, and ensuring all installations and repairs comply with National, State, and Local Electrical Codes. This role combines hands-on technical work with documentation in SAP and mentoring junior and non-licensed personnel to maintain safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repairs, and installations on electrical systems and equipment, including generators and switchgear, in a manufacturing and agricultural environment.
• Work safely with voltages up to 12,470V in 3-phase systems, as well as lower voltages in single-phase and 3-phase applications.
• Program, operate, and troubleshoot PLCs, DCS, and interlocking systems to support automated processes and ensure reliable plant operations.
• Use SAP to document, update, and access maintenance records, ensuring accurate tracking of work performed and equipment history.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to install, maintain, and repair electrical and related mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues involving wiring, controls, and associated mechanical components to minimize downtime.
• Perform work involving hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, framing, and fabrication as needed to support industrial installations and maintenance.
• Use hand tools and industrial equipment safely and effectively to complete installations, repairs, and modifications.
• Train, guide, and mentor non-licensed personnel who are working toward licensure, promoting safe work practices and technical proficiency.
• Maintain efficient workflow by planning tasks, coordinating with operations, and minimizing interruptions to production and agricultural activities.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable National, State, and Local Electrical Codes and internal safety standards.
• Participate in and pass required safety screenings and adhere to all safety procedures and protocols while performing job duties.

• Current Journeyman Class A electrician license.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to work with high-voltage systems up to 12,470V (3-phase) and lower-voltage single-phase and 3-phase systems.
• Proficiency in performing maintenance and repairs on generators, switchgear, and industrial electrical systems.
• Experience programming, operating, and troubleshooting PLCs, DCS, and interlocking systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including wiring, controls, and industrial installations.
• Mechanical aptitude for working with hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, framing, and fabrication in an industrial environment.
• Proficiency with hand tools and industrial tools used for electrical and mechanical work.
• Ability to use SAP or similar computerized maintenance management systems to document and access maintenance records.
• Commitment to maintaining current technical knowledge and licensing requirements.
• Ability to pass a Safety Screen evaluating the capability to safely perform all job duties.
• Forklift certification or the ability to obtain forklift certification within required timelines.

• Master electrician license preferred.
• Experience working in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Background in agricultural operations maintenance is beneficial.
• Experience mentoring and training junior or non-licensed personnel.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Attention to detail and commitment to completing accurate documentation in maintenance systems.
• Ability to adapt to rotating shift schedules and maintain reliability in attendance and performance.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing and industrial setting that supports both factory and agricultural operations. You will work around high-voltage equipment, generators, switchgear, PLC-controlled systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and other industrial machinery. The position follows a DuPont shift schedule, where you work only 7 days in a 14-day window and receive 7 consecutive days off once per month. The environment requires strict adherence to safety protocols, including passing a Safety Screen and using appropriate personal protective equipment while working with electrical and mechanical systems. Work may involve standing, walking, climbing, and using hand tools and industrial equipment throughout the shift in a production-oriented facility.

This is a Permanent position based out of Moorhead, MN.

The pay range for this position is $88233.00 - $115000.00/yr.
