Office Technician (Typing)

Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Supervisor I, the Office Technician (Typing) is responsible for the clerical support to the Section. The incumbent independently performs a wide range of complex duties and is expected to consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, independence, and originality in performing the assigned tasks forwarding and responding to calls and inquiries with both internal staff and the public. This includes evaluating, monitoring, and optimizing the requests and assigning them accordingly, act as the health benefits coordinator for FOS staff members in the West Sacramento and Torrance offices, establish and maintain the section's personnel, medical records, subject, and chronological files, and prepare time reports and ensure reports are prepared and processed in a timely manner and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Working Conditions

The Office Technician will work in a standard office environment. Requires being in a stationary position, consistent with office work, for extended periods of time. Daily uses of a personal computer, office equipment, and/ or telephone.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the CalCareers.ca.gov website.
• The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
