Job Overview Instructional Designer II at Texas A&M University Department Teaching and Learning Innovation. The role involves designing and developing innovative, high‑quality online, hybrid, and face‑to‑face courses for Mays Business School, fostering student engagement and instructional excellence. Responsibilities Meet independently with faculty and subject matter experts to design and develop engaging learning content across all modalities. Develop learning objectives aligned with course materials and assignments. Create and curate accessible, engaging, and active‑learning materials. Design interactive activities that promote engagement among students and between students and instructors. Build learning content in the TAMU Canvas environment. Collaborate with faculty to locate and evaluate learning materials, including open educational resources and third‑party media. Provide training and resources on copyright and fair‑use issues. Work with SMEs on planning media assets such as video, audio, graphics, and other appropriate media. Stay abreast of emerging trends in online instruction, pedagogy, accessibility, and open‑source educational resources. Evaluate course quality using the Mays Business School course quality rubric. Monitor project progress, anticipate roadblocks, recalibrate deliverables and timelines, and communicate frequently with the director. Build collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and stakeholders via face‑to‑face, digital, and remote communication. Manage communications and use excellent time‑management skills to complete projects. Use a project‑management system to document progress and maintain documentation for each project. Report on learning‑design project progress and manage a digital asset library for graphic design projects. Develop guides, resources, and training materials to support faculty in learning‑design processes and best practices. Provide training to faculty on LMS and related digital learning tools (e.g., Zoom, other third‑party tools). Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in curriculum and instruction, instructional design, instructional technology, training and development, or a related field. Minimum two years of experience in instructional design or related fields such as K‑12 education, higher education, adult learning, literacy, or training and development. Preferred credentials: MS, MA, or PhD in education, online learning, instructional design, instructional technology, curriculum & instruction, UX/UI design, or a related field. Experience in curating, researching, writing, proofreading, and editing instructional materials. Experience designing, developing, and implementing innovative, engaging, and accessible online, hybrid, and face‑to‑face learning content. Experience interacting with faculty and students to provide support. Experience working collaboratively in a team environment. Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to apply instructional design theories, principles, and best practices to develop high‑quality learning experiences. Knowledge of quality design standards such as Quality Matters, OLC Scorecard, or similar rubrics. Expert knowledge of course design, accessibility, Universal Design for Learning, adult learning theory, and current online education trends. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with faculty, subject matter experts, and stakeholders. Experience leading staff development of other instructional designers. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and perform in a fast‑paced environment. Proficiency in Canvas, contemporary learning technologies, and basic programming related to online learning (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). Knowledge of project‑management best practices and tools such as Wrike or related platforms. Knowledge of educational technology tools leveraging AI.
