Our client is a global leader in the design and manufacturing of high-performance, sustainable packaging solutions. They specialize in flexible and thermoformed packaging serving highly regulated industries including medical, food and beverage, and consumer goods. This role sits within a key division focused on medical packaging, where the business is continuing to invest and expand its engineering capabilities.
Job Description
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4-5 design engineers
- Oversee the design and development of thermoformed medical packaging products
- Drive project execution from concept through production, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, quality, and commercial teams
- Serve as a key point of contact for customers, supporting technical discussions and project updates
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, including medical packaging guidelines
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across design and engineering processes
- Provide hands-on design support when needed, including CAD work and technical problem-solving

The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Packaging Science, Industrial Design, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in thermoforming or closely related plastics manufacturing
- Strong background in medical packaging design within a regulated environment
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing engineering teams
- Proficiency in CAD and hands-on design capabilities
- Ability to lead projects from concept through production while meeting customer and regulatory requirements
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and interact with customers
