Job Title: Oncology Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BCLS, OCN preferred Must-Have: Chemotherapy experience Chemotherapy symptom management Blood product administration experience Experience with central lines, tunneled and non-tunneled ports Description: Position/Specialty: Oncology RN Ratios: 1:4 First-timers not preferred Weekend requirements: Yes, unless schedule states otherwise Call requirements: None Floating within the hospital: Yes Floating to sister hospitals: No Open to accommodating block schedule: No Locals accepted: Yes Pending license accepted: No Restrictions on time off: 1 week maximum Most patients are receiving chemotherapy, with many being neutropenic. Unexpected admissions are typically for neutropenic fevers. Chemotherapy experience and chemotherapy symptom management are required. Blood product administration experience is required. Experience with central lines, as well as tunneled and non-tunneled ports, is essential. Staffing and Scheduling: Self-scheduling permitted Patient ratios during nights: 3.5 Number of weekend shifts per contract: 4 weekend shifts per schedule Patient Care Details: Patient age groups: Adults Daily census: 28 Number of beds: 30 Interdisciplinary support services available include physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. Patient diagnoses: Primarily leukemia and lymphoma diagnoses, along with other conditions receiving medical intervention. Most patients are receiving chemotherapy and many are neutropenic. Special equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps and CADD Solis PCA pumps. Compliance requirements are in place that need to be adhered to prior to start. References required at submittal, ideally with a supervisory background. Training modules are required and recorded via transcripts by the facility.
