Position Summary The (USA) Distinguished Software Engineer will lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, reliable software solutions aligned with business objectives. The team developed Walmart Luminate, a platform providing actionable, customer‑centric insights that empower CPGs and Walmart merchants to make informed, data‑driven decisions efficiently and collaboratively. The group emphasizes technical strategy, reliability engineering, scalability, and cloud‑native architecture to build innovative solutions. What you’ll do Analyze and scope requirements to align solutions with business objectives, prioritizing features to deliver minimum viable products. Design scalable, modular software architectures ensuring reliability, performance, and security across distributed systems. Develop maintainable, testable code adhering to coding standards and optimize application functionality and usability. Lead testing strategies, including test case development and execution, to ensure comprehensive coverage and defect resolution. Oversee continuous integration and deployment processes, monitoring program health and driving improvements. Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve defects, enhancing product stability and user experience. Guide teams on technical decisions, fostering innovation and adherence to best practices. What you’ll bring Extensive experience in software architecture, distributed systems, and scalable design patterns. Proficiency in coding languages such as JavaScript, Python, and C, with adherence to coding standards and security best practices. Strong knowledge of cloud‑native architecture and operational due diligence to ensure reliability and performance. Expertise in requirement analysis, including functional and non‑functional requirements, scoping, and estimation. Proven ability to lead design and development of modular, extensible solutions aligned with business objectives. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, telemetry, and defect management processes. Ability to drive continuous improvement and innovation in software development practices. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area, and 6 years of experience in software engineering or related area. 8 years of experience in software engineering or related area. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area, and 4 years of experience in software engineering or related area. Knowledge and experience creating inclusive digital experiences, implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
