About our group:Servo Engineering’s primary mission is to provide robust ultra-precision position control technologies to enable aggressive advancement in high performance HDD areal density growth. The team also serves a critical HDD Systems role, working closely with and enabling other functions in the disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical, Recording Technology, Tribology, Customer Interface, Manufacturing, and Reliability. In this role you will be part of the Servo Electronics Group and will provide high level design and architecture assistance to enable Seagate’s future roadmapAbout the role - you will:Solve challenging multidisciplinary technical problems and lead extendibility initiatives in Embedded System design to ensure a sustainable roadmap for HDD Areal Density & Performance growth.Focus on enabling the servo code and electronics architecture to enable next generation features In particular: Develop real-time embedded firmware for deployment of new electronics, realization of HDD systems, and other servo related concepts.Identify code and hardware that pose technical problems and engineering bottlenecks in product development; Develop and Implement in HDD solutions addressing the design problemsParticipate in other areas of Servo Product Development, Technology Development Projects, Feature development, and ongoing support of Product yields, Reliability Testing, Customer issue resolution, and other opportunities within the Servo team.Perform design validation and verification.Participate in cutting edge technology development in HDD Multi-actuator/Parallelism initiativesWork in an open-minded environment which supports and fosters Innovation.supports solutions deployment in Factory for successful product development on a high-volume manufacturing scale.About you:Successful Servo Architecture Engineers have excellent breadth and depth of technical capabilities, and work effectively within a highly collaborative, dynamic and capable team in a high technology lab environment.TeamworkDesire and eager to learn and discover new ideas and theoriesStrong communication and technical leadership skillsFlexibility and excellent time and task management capabilitiesYour experience includes:Knowledge and skills on Embedded SystemsDevelopment in C for Embedded systems and real time computingHigh level of comfort with Embedded software development and MATLABBachelor’s degree in engineering related field (i.e. Electrical, Computer Engineering) and 8+ years of experience or master’s degree in the same and 6+ years’ experience or PhD and 3+ years’ experience or equivalent experience and education.You might also have:MATLAB + Simulink, Python, RISC-V experienceData collection (Scopes, Lab Equipment)Signal Processing, Control systems, or another related implementationLocation:Our Shakopee campus is located 25 minutes southwest of Minneapolis in a setting with a rural vibe – it overlooks a horse racing track and stables, yet it has great entertainment venues close by as well.
